Fall into Fun with Webster County

We know you are excited -  trust us, we are too! The temperature is dropping and a palette of red, orange and gold sweeps across the mountainside. Autumn is upon us, a season of beauty and appreciation in Webster County. A few weeks ago, we asked what you love about Fall in Webster County and you didn’t disappoint.

  • Flavor - The Autumn harvest is sure to satisfy the taste buds. Pumpkin spice, fresh-picked squash, sipping on spiced apple cider and piping hot soups will warm your soul even as the cool mountain air descends upon you. Linda Yates loves “the last of the butternut squash and tomatoes in the garden”. Enjoy them while you can!

  • Foliage – Suzi Phillips enjoys, “Watching the sunset light up the leaves on the Balli Farm.” It’s easy to see why! Fall in love with the vibrant colors at Holly River State Park and hear the crunch of leaves beneath your feet as you venture out on a hike with a brilliant view.

  • Hunting Season – The hunt is on! Webster County is blessed with an abundance of wildlife! Chuck Glover mentioned one of his fall favorites being hunting! Well, get ready Chuck - Archery and Crossbow season is September 30 − December 31; Buck Firearms season is November 20 − December 2. For more information on hunting regulations visit the West Virginia DNR website.

  • Bonfires – Sitting around a campfire with friends, bundled up in sweatshirts as the evening air turns cool. The fire crackles with delight as the sun sinks behind the mountainside. And did we mention smores?

As Marcella Harper Baughman stated, “Everything” – that’s what’s to love about Fall. We agree, because it’s hard to pick just one fall favorite, and seriously, what’s not to love!? Enjoy a safe Fall season in Webster County!
