The Woodchopping and Timber Heritage Museum is officially a National Park Discovery Site through the Appalachian Forest National Heritage Area! The museum now has an official passport stamp for visitors to collect and stamp their passport to the national parks.
The Discovery Site Program recognizes places that help tell the story of the Appalachian Forest’s history, culture and natural resources. Sites highlight themes including forests and forestry, the logging boom and mountain culture.
AFNHA officials said the designated sites create a connected visitor experience across the Appalachian Forest region while offering educational opportunities and authentic heritage tourism experiences.
The Woodchopping and Timber Heritage Museum was selected for its interpretation of regional timber and logging history and its connection to Appalachian forest heritage and culture.
As a Discovery Site, the museum is eligible to offer visitors a National Park Service Passport stamp. Visitors may stamp their official National Park Passport at the museum, at other AFNHA Discovery Sites and at AFNHA’s Darden Mill.
Stop by and get stamped at the Woodchopping and Timber Heritage Museum Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. .
