Grab your life vests, your choice of floating transportation and hit the water for the annual trek down the Elk River.
Race Course:
The normal race course starts at the CR 15/3 bridge in Curtin and finishes at Bakers Island in downtown Webster Springs, Approximately 5 miles in length. American Whitewater’s description of this river section (shown below) includes approximately 6.6 miles from Bergoo to Curtin:

From Bergoo to the CR 15/3 Bridge that goes to Curtin the rapids are mostly of the cobble bar variety.
In early April each year, whitewater enthusiasts from across the United States converge on Webster County for the Webster Wildwater Weekend River Festival. The downriver race features plenty of whitewater action on the Elk River. The awards party on Saturday evening features live music, river videos and good times for all. Paddlers also can participate in river trips on the Elk, Back Fork, Gauley and other area rivers on Friday and Sunday, without the pressure of having to try to be the fastest down river.
